Blender 2.80 Eevee - Testing the waters

Image
Been playing around with Blender 2.8, figuring out what the new commands do where the old commands have moved etc. It is a big change in the user interface but so far its making sense for me. Big thing to remember, it changes almost nighty and is in alpha . And don't save over any 2.7x work using 2.8. I did it once, and the blend file refused to open in 2.79, so be careful. Eevee is like viewing your 3d world in a game engine.. So like unreal, unity etc. It FAST! You can preview changes real time and make creative decision a lot quicker based on the visual feed back you get instantly! Love it! I can see straight away the results i want and the quality is near production ready, for my needs anyway. :) There are some things not working yet: Plane emissions only show a glow, no light. Area lights work fine but show up as a point in volumetric areas. Some issues with transparency. Image with an alpha will show a dark shadow. Even when the alpha is not connected via nodes. ...

LiS BtS - Last Song

Image
All tasks competed, truck ready and packed.. one last song. The junkyard scene is big in both size and resources.. took a few times to render as i kept running out of video ram. In the end i used Blenders new cpu+gpu render option, and had no issues. Other then the lens flares everything was done in Blender. Sun beams just a plane/cube object with volumetric light. Blue haze/fog in the distance with Mist pass and colored. Using LiS skydome object and sky texture. HDRI lights used. Using Blenders new cpu+gpu render helped a lot.

Amazing games and graphics announced in E3. No question i'm a graphics fan in any shape for form from the simple FTL pixel stye to the stunning Death Stranding.. Last of us 2 looks incredible, fallout 76 likewise. Then Capatin Spirit is shown and my heart melts, So inspiring did these quick renders. Points if you can guess what game they are based on :) Deviantart for full version.

Photogrammetry - Tree stump 360 degree

Image
So i went back to the tree stump, and took some more pictues around the back to do a 360 coverage. It now includes the Ant hill on the stump. What was so impressive is all i did was add the new photos to the old 180 degree set of photos and got a nice result! Added some grass and rendered out..

Two video cards test with Blender 2.78a

Image
A nvidia 780ti fell into my hands.. so replaced the 560ti in my pc and ran up blender to see some render action.. So lets see what a 980 and 780ti can do. Default CPU i7 as comparison got 5 min  Default BMW test render got 45 sec.     512x256 tile size test got 39.5 sec. Big improvement over the 560ti.. Also ran the tests in the CUDA version of Blender.
