Blender 2.80 Eevee - Testing the waters
Been playing around with Blender 2.8, figuring out what the new commands do where the old commands have moved etc.
It is a big change in the user interface but so far its making sense for me.
Big thing to remember, it changes almost nighty and is in alpha . And don't save over any 2.7x work using 2.8. I did it once, and the blend file refused to open in 2.79, so be careful.
Eevee is like viewing your 3d world in a game engine.. So like unreal, unity etc.
It FAST! You can preview changes real time and make creative decision a lot quicker based on the visual feed back you get instantly! Love it!
I can see straight away the results i want and the quality is near production ready, for my needs anyway. :)
There are some things not working yet:
Plane emissions only show a glow, no light.
Area lights work fine but show up as a point in volumetric areas.
Some issues with transparency. Image with an alpha will show a dark shadow. Even when the alpha is not connected via nodes.
Here are a series of eevee screen shots showing the different effects being applied.. remember its like a game engine now, so you can control different effects in real time.
PBR Material only, overhead lights on to show scene better.
+Depth of field (focus point by Kate)
+Screen Space Reflections (Lockers and floor get shiny)
+Indirect Lighting (notice the roof space lighten up)
This was done with a Ir-radiance Volume control area.
+Bloom (Reduced the overhead lights to show this)
+Volumetric Lights and Shadows (love this, took 2 seconds to show an effect that will take cycles 20 minutes and still not look as good)
Ok some new things that i missed or cant find:
Search box to look for commands is now F3 and no longer space bar.
Set Origin to Geometry or the famous Shft-Ctrl-Alt-C is gone! God help us!
Work around, Press F3, type set origin or object menu and set sub menu.
Also in a new version, right click bring up menu with Set Origin and Snap options.

+Ambient Occlusion on (Can see some darkening around bottom of the lockers, prob not a good example)
