Media players - the great conflict

/Rant on.
Media players.. great devices when they work.
Playback you downloaded movies and tv shows, stream music and youtube.
But its not all rosey and it can be a frustrating experiance.

These media player companies really screw ppl over in regards to having a device that works as advertised, im surprised by how many ppl fork out for these flawed players that promise the world but deliver broken buggy glitches..

Popcorn, Egreat.. all the same, push out a device as fast as possible without testing.

You become the tester and are forced to hang out in useless forums pleading and hoping that issues be fixed in a firmware update which runs the risk of screwing your player.

Ah but then they promise extras in the next firmware update, extra subtitle support, overscan, audio fucking support that should have been there in the first place!

Months pass then the company releases a new player, you find you player has less and less updates until finally zero support.

Honestly if you bought one of these lemons take it back, wait 2-3 months until you know its fixed.
Rant off\

I own a popcorn and have been through this shit. Its still not perfect, crashes occasionally and had features taken away! Youtube is no longer avail on it, even though it was advertised as being able to play youtube.

Alternatves? Maybe get one of those cheap DVD/Blu ray players that can playback divx and mkv's. They cost like 70-90 dollars.
Build a Media Center - yeah im not much for this option to much work and mucking around.

All i can suggest is read up on the forums the issues that the media player you want has and make a informed choice.
